Ignorance
by Shawn Smith- Feb 12, 2007
Though I strive to master universal knowledge
Though I delight in the joy of pursuit
Though I have traveled great distances
Though I have cracked the spine of many books
Though I have burned the wax of many candles
Though I have pondered deep questions
by the light of the flickering flame
Though flashes of light have, on occasion,
have illuminated my empty chamber
Though I have been spoken to from behind
by some unidentified voice
Yet I must still proclaim utter ignorance
The wisest are those who have come to realize
that in respect of wisdom
I am most certainly worthless
and that real wisdom is the property of God
I am large, I contain multitudes
Riddled with contradictions
Tossing to and fro on a sea of conflicting opinions
Relishing every moment
