The Couple

Shawn Smith - July 20, 2006

I saw them today

They met one another on the street corner

Both were smartly dressed

Both were young and beautiful

Both were a picture of good health

As they met, he kissed her gently on the cheek

They held hands and gaily walked along the sidewalk with a spring in their gait

Totally oblivious to their surroundings

Only aware of one another's presence

And I, striding behind them, could plainly see that they were in love

No words need be spoken

Just one glance at how they looked at one another told it all

What more can I say, what more can I write?
