I Will Not Celebrate Death

Yahya Abdul Rahman - Nov 7, 2006

There are those who are celebrating the recent death sentence of Saddam Hussein.

But I will not celebrate death.

I will not run wild in the streets with joy.

I will not be handing out candies to passersby.

I will not swell with pride as more blood is poured on an already blood stained earth.

I absolutely refuse.

I will only celebrate life.

That precious gift from the Creator.

It is a sad day when another soul is snuffed out.

That killing for killing continues.

And the most gruesome act,

that of killing another human being, no matter what sins that person committed,

is a cause for celebration.

Don't be too quick to rejoice over death.

For you may be rejoicing over your own.
